  14. I have posted about the slow system problem I have before.
  15. I suspect it is not a universal problem.
  16. Some systems to which I point my www browsers send data to this
  17. A3000 very very slowly.
  18. I am writing this message simultaneously with an attempted 
  19. connection to the home page of the author of ppp1_30.

  22. After about ten minutes, ALYNX reports 476 of 2593 bytes of data
  23. transferred.  It is 8:20AM local time.
  24. I do not believe that the remote system is busy with downloads.

  26. This is the sixth time I have attempted this connection,
  27. and the sixth time the transfer rate has been well under
  28. one byte per second.

  30. I have seen messages from others who use Amigas who do not seem
  31. to have this problem.  I know that if I connect to one of these
  32. slow systems with my 386/Netscape system, the data transfer is
  33. at an adequate speed.

  35. Therefore, I assume I have something wrong with this particular
  36. installation.  Not all systems ae slow ... perhaps one in ten or
  37. twelve.

  39. I have both this A3000 and an A500 on which the slow transfer
  40. rates are troublesome.  Both demonstrated the problem using
  41. AmiTCP 4.0 demo, PPP 1.3 (unreg) and any communication clients
  42. I try.
  43. The change to PPP 1.30 (registered) made no difference with these
  44. slow systems.

  46. The problem is obviously NOT related to the load on the systems
  47. which are slow.  It is something in the way in which these Amiga
  48. systems communicate/handshake with the remote (slow) systems.

  50. Does anyone else experience trouble with some slow remote
  51. systems, as I describe above?  Does anyone have a solution to
  52. the problem?  Or even any ideas to try?

  54. I am near the end of this message ... it is almost thirty
  55. minutes since I first used ALYNX to connect to Mr. Kruse's
  56. home page.  ALYNX now reports 820 of 2593 bytes of data
  57. transferred.  It is about 8:30 AM on a Sunday morning.
